My brother Mick had a heart attack on Tuesday 24th Feb 2009, Carol my sister in law phoned and asked me to go right away, when I got there, he looked really bad, his face was an awful colour and was dripping in sweat, Carol had already called the ambulance, when it arrived they did what they had to do by checking everything but the paramedic wasn't happy with the ECG results so called through to central and asked for a thrombosis ( not sure of spelling) paramedic, they are trained especially for heart attacks, by the time he arrived Mick's pain was a lot easier after having swallowed a tablet and had another put under his tongue, they checked his ECG again and it had become stable but the heart paramedic said he would follow in his car to the hospital in case he was needed on the way. They got him in the ambulance and we went indoors but they didn't leave and after a while I said to Carol something must be wrong otherwise they would have gone by now so we went out to see what was happening and he'd had another "turn" after getting him in the ambulance and they were stabilising him again before setting off, this time the heart paramedic treated him and he stayed with him in the ambulance to the hospital while the other paramedic drove his car.
To cut the story down some, he's doing really well and he came home today monday 2nd March 2009. The medical staff at the hospital said that if he hadn't been treated by the paramedics within a forty minutes of them being called out then it could have ended up with a differant outlook.
